What should I wear?
Comfortable, stretchable clothing that you can move and sweat in. You don't want your clothes to loose fitting as they may get in the way when you're moving into poses.
Do I need shoes?
No, yoga is done in bare feet or in yoga socks.
What if I'm not flexible?
Being flexible is not a requirement for being able to do yoga! We come to yoga to increase our strength, flexibility, and overall well-being! We all start with different levels of flexibility, and you will begin to see results in a way that is safe and works for your specific body.
Is meditation or yoga a religion?
No, although many religions use meditation or prayer. Meditation is just a way of sitting quietly and going within. You do not need to be affiliated with any religion to practice yoga. Yoga is sometimes described as spiritual.
How do private yoga sessions work?
I will meet you at your home or place of business. We will begin by discussing your needs, concerns, questions and goals. Then we work together, considering your individual situation, to develop a practice that is perfect for you.
What do I need for my yoga class or session?
All you need a yoga mat, 2 blocks and a large towel or yoga blanket. If you don't have any yoga props/mat, I have them available to use during your session. I also recommend you have a bottle of water to stay hydrated during your yoga practice.
How many times should we meet?
Ideally, we should plan to meet weekly or bi-weekly for a certain period of time, usually 3-6 months. This allows time to reach your goals and address any deeper issues that may arise. However, we can work together to create a program that works with your schedule and budget.
Do you have a yoga studio location?
No. I bring yoga to you! I offer private, semi-private, kids and family yoga in your home or building and corporate yoga for businesses.
How long are the meditations?
Meditation sessions are usually 30 minutes to 1 hour.
How long do I have to sit to be effective?
There is no specfic amount of time to sit for your meditation to be effective. You can start with 1 minute and slowly work your way up to a time that fits your preference. When you are first starting to meditate, be kind to yourself. It is not easy to sit for long periods of time at first, nor is that necessary for your meditation to be beneficial. It is more important to do meditation daily and develop the habit of a daily practice. So listen to your body.
Do I have to sit on the floor?
Sitting on the floor is not necessary. It is best to sit in a position where your back is straight – that could be on the floor, on a chair, or even laying down.
What if I can't sit still?
This is common. If you need to start over you can always give yourself a break. Shifting is normal, especially when you first start. It takes a few tries to find what is most comfortable for you.
