"You are not responsible for the programming you picked up in childhood. However, as an adult, you are one hundred percent responsible for fixing it." ~ Ken Keyes, Jr.
THIS quote means a lot to me because as a child many of us are trained or programmed to believe and conduct ourselves a certain way. The things we were taught are what we believe to be true because it's what we've always been told. It's what our parents or caretakers were told. It's what was taught to the people before them..
But is it right or true?
As we get older we learn new things and experience different things. Those things start to shape our life and our experiences shape our beliefs.. It's up to us to accept or be open and receptive to new things that may not align with what our parents or loved ones taught us. And that's ok because at the end of the day this is your life... your journey.. your adventure... your new beginning. The freedom to choose and "fix" your programming is completely yours.
This quote also helps me realize that blaming others for things that have happened to you does not fix anything. Learning from the experience and moving forward with an open heart is one step toward making positive changes and fixing whatever it is in your life you feel needs to be fixed 💜
